Scott Bowen Testimonial

“I'll speak to the examinations themselves first.  I would describe the examinations by the Central South Presbytery, both with the Ministerial Committee and on the floor, as refreshingly rigorous.  They did what they said they would do, which was to examine me on my views in the respective areas - Bible, theology, Westminster, polity, sacraments.  It was thorough and it was detailed.  But it was fair.  There were no softballs, but neither were there any foul balls.  I know that I benefited from the preparation, and from the need to be able to communicate clearly and succinctly.  I know that the REs, upon seeing the examination, felt that they were in good hands as far as the people who would be examining their future pastors.  As for their examinations before the Administrative Commission, I'd say the same thing - serious and intentional, but fair.

That leads me to the overall transition.  It was a joy.  After the tension of leaving, where everything felt secretive and tension filled, we all felt tremendously cared for and accommodated by the EPC and its representatives.”
