Church Planting Committee

One of the key strategic initiatives of the New Wineskins Presbytery (NWEPC) is to plant new churches.  Church plants are the single largest source of new converts in America, and they attract the unchurched in far greater numbers than established churches.  Peter Wagner, the “father” of the church growth movement, says, “The single most effective evangelistic methodology under heaven is planting new churches.”  NWEPC’s emphasis on being a missional body makes church planting a very high priority.

NWEPC’s Church Planting Committee was formed to promote church planting by NWEPC churches.  To that end, the committee:

  • Advocates for church planting within the presbytery
  • Encourages churches to invest in church planting where appropriate
  • Evaluates the potential of proposed church plants, as well as aspiring church planters
  • Resources startup churches and potential startups, with expertise (available today) and funding (hopefully in the future)
  • Serves as liaison between the presbytery and the church plant
  • Recommends changes in status as a plant moves toward becoming a particular church

Presently, the committee consists of:

Chairman, Rev. Garnett Slatton, Bay Presbyterian Church, Bay Village, Ohio
Rev. Alec Flynt, First Presbyterian Church, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

The Church Planting Committee is open to adding new members.  We are especially interested in those with church planting experience.  You can contact the Committee at:
